5. There’s no place like home for a top-tier head coach like Frost

While alma maters can be a double-edged sword for a head coach, few fan bases seem willing to embrace one of their own like Nebraska fans are ready to love Frost once again. He is part of the storied link to the Tom Osborne era in Lincoln. He has the pedigree and the credentials to restore glory to the Huskers in a way that seems almost preordained.

Frost has been talked about as a future Nebraska head coach back when he was still at Oregon. He has built a track record for success in his first two years at the head of a program after taking over at UCF. Bear Bryant famously said when asked why he left Texas A&M to take over Alabama, “Mama called, and when Mama calls, then you just have to come running.” If the interest at Nebraska is as high as reports currently indicate, Frost will almost certainly heed the call. And if he does come running back to his home state, he could write another chapter in the storied history of the Huskers by engineering a quick turnaround for the dormant powerhouse.
