Fresno State took down No. 23 Boise State on Saturday. The game is the first of two straight contests between the Bulldogs and the Broncos. Their contest in Fresno determined which team will host next weekend’s Mountain West championship game. With the 28-17 victory over Boise State, the Bulldogs earned the right to play at home next weekend when they meet again.

Marcus McMaryion had a huge game to give Fresno State its ninth win of the season. The former Oregon State quarterback threw for 332 yards and two touchdowns, completing 23 of his 36 passing attempts on the day. KeeSean Johnson caught six of the passes for 119 yards and both McMaryion touchdowns for his fourth triple-digit game of the season.

The defeat of the Broncos knocked Bryan Harsin‘s team out of the College Football Playoff rankings and opened the door for Fresno State to vault up into the Top 25. Both teams are probably out of the running for a New Year’s Six bowl game, but they will still meet again for the Mountain West title.
