3. Unfinished Business

Many would say Mike Gundy is the best coach in Oklahoma State history. He could be in the discussion as the greatest Oklahoma State figure if you add all of his playing and coaching accomplishments. But he has never won a National Championship.

Only one Cowboy has claimed a National Championship. In 1945, Jim Lookabaugh claimed the Cowboys only National Championship. Coach Gundy might have done enough for the university to be given a statue and maybe even a name on the stadium or the name of the field, but he wants that ultimate trophy.

Also, no coach in Oklahoma State history has won two conference championships since the Cowboys came to the Big 8/Big 12. He is also the only one to win the Big 12, but Mike Gundy still has things he wants to capture in his tenure in Stillwater. If he wins a Big 12 championship and National Championship, he will be the most influential Cowboy in Oklahoma State history.
