Of all the great options at head coach still available on the market, none makes more sense for any big time program than Clemson Tigers defensive coordinator Brent Venables. Just look at how former Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart is working out for the Georgia Bulldogs.

Texas A&M will be able to recruit on offense for a while, and Venables has been around enough talented quarterbacks to understand what needs to be done. Being able to just observe what a legendary quarterback like Deshaun Watson did on a day-to-day process should be enough for Venables to leave his current program.

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney deserves all the credit in the world in terms of turning the Tigers into possibly the best program in the country right now. Since Alabama’s loss to the Auburn Tigers, Clemson is now the clear cut best program over the past two years.

What Venables has done with the Clemson defense is the most remarkable thing he’s done. If Venables does not get a juicy offer from some big time program, it’ll be mind blowing. Clemson’s defense is the best in the country, and the defensive line has more talent than most in the NFL. Venables might actually make more sense than Jimbo for the Aggies. Imagine what Texas A&M’s defense would be like against SEC opponents with Venables at the helm.
