Rough first year in Fayetteville

Bielema’s first season at the helm with the Hogs was even worse than his last. The two years between 2012 and 2013 were ones to forget for this fan base. Yet, hope was restored for Arkansas when Bielema left the Wisconsin Badgers in Dec. 2012 to join the Hogs.

However, Arkansas actually earned three wins in 2013 compared to four win 2012. Moreover, Bielema did not lead his team to a single victory in the SEC in 2013. Even the Rutgers Scarlet Knights defeated the Hogs in what started a nine game losing streak to finish the year.

In fact, Arkansas did not come within 10 points of a single SEC opponent until the loss to the Ole Miss Rebels in Week 11. Yet, this team did start to show some life that would carry over into 2014, with close results against the Mississippi State Bulldogs and LSU Tigers to round out the season.

Hot seat rumors already flooded this program with a miserable losing streak and one of the worst records in Arkansas football history. Yet, the patience was worth it, at least for the short-term. Arkansas was much better the following season under Bielema.
