UCF Football: 3 takeaways from OT victory over Memphis

2. UCF also boasts a solid running game with Anderson, Killins
While much of the talk throughout 2017 has been about Milton and the high-powered Knights passing game, UCF has kept winning thanks to a balanced offense. Once again, the UCF backfield put up solid numbers for the top offense in the country.
In recent weeks, true freshman Otis Anderson has taken on an increased role for the Knights on the ground. Officially listed as a wide receiver, Anderson has been most dangerous when running the football. He saved his best game to date for the AAC championship game, racking up the first 100-yard rushing performance of his college career.
Anderson finished the day with 117 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries, but he wasn’t the only bright spot for the ground game. Incumbent starter Adrian Killins Jr. also had a solid day for the Knights despite losing his job as the starter. Killins churned out 51 yards and a score on 13 rushes, helping keep the clock rolling and the chains moving. They benefitted from Milton’s dual-threat ability, and were perfect complements to the option attack.
Anderson and Killins provide one of the best one-two punches among Group of Five teams. If the Knights are going to take down whichever Power Five opponent they land in a New Year’s Six bowl, they will need another solid performance from their backfield.
