After losing 38-20 to Oklahoma back in November, TCU clawed its way back into the second position of the Big 12 standings to earn a rematch with the Sooners. The two teams met at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, for the Big 12 championship game on Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately for Gary Patterson‘s team, the deficit from the first meeting was no fluke.

TCU’s vaunted defense was gashed by Heisman frontrunner Baker Mayfield, who threw four touchdown passes in the runaway victory. Meanwhile, the Sooners shut down the Horned Frogs running game. TCU managed just 83 yards on 24 carries, forcing Kenny Hill to try to win the game with his arm. He went 27-of-37 for 243 yards and two scores, but was outgunned by Mayfield.

After a third loss, TCU is probably not going to reach a New Year’s Six bowl game this season. They will be pushed down into the mid teens of the final College Football Playoff rankings on Sunday. All that is left now is to see where the Horned Frogs end up in the bowl pecking order for the Big 12.
