Famous Idaho Potato Bowl
Central Michigan vs. Wyoming
Location: Boise, Idaho
Date: Friday, Dec. 22
Time: 4 p.m. ET
Central Michigan (8-4) was dominant on either side of the ball this season. The Chippewas ranked near the nation average in both offense and defense. Nevertheless, they found the right mix more often that not. They finished second in the MAC West this season and enter their bowl game on a five-game winning streak.
Wyoming (7-5) features a perplexing combination of top-flight quarterback prospected Josh Allen and the nation’s 126th ranked offense. The Cowboys averaged an abysmal 286.9 yards per game, but with Allen on board the possibility of a big outing and plenty of points is always on the table.
Allen missed the final two games of the regular season with a shoulder injury. He’s expected to be healthy in time for the Cowboys’ bowl game, and unlike other stars, he probably needs the game to build his draft stock. While NFL scouts are giddy about his potential he has plenty of work to do. Allen has throw for more than 200 yards in four of his 10 games this season. That’s not a high bar, but more often than not he’s failed to be the difference maker he was supposed to be. That will be enough for the Chippewas to win.
