Middle Tennessee vs. Arkansas State

Location: Montgomery, Alabama
Date: Saturday, Dec. 16
Time: 8 p.m. ET

Middle Tennessee (6-6) was about as erratic a team as you could find in college football this season. They fell to Minnesota by 31 points and beat UTEP by 27 points. Flip flopping between wins and losses and never reaching more than two of either finish in a row.

Arkansas State (7-4) has been much more consistent. The Red Wolves nearly upset Nebraska to start the year and lost a thrilling Sun Belt finale too Troy in the final seconds. They finished third in the Sun Belt with a 6-2 conference record.

The matchup to watch in this one will be Arkansas State quarterback Justice Hansen against the Middle Tennessee defense. Hansen is averaging 330 yards per game and a hair over three touchdown passes per game. He’s turned the ball over multiple times in three of his team’s four losses. He’ll air it out, but the extra preparation time will favor him and the Red Wolves.

Prediction: Middle Tennessee 20, Arkansas State 40
