The Fighting Lane Kiffins, also known as FAU, had quite the year in the first season under the former Alabama offensive coordinator. In fact, the Owls went 10-3 with a Conference-USA title and they did so after beginning the season 1-3. Jason Driskel had an impressive year, but the run game, led by sophomore Devin Singletary led the way.
Akron, on the other hand, finished the year just 7-6 but finished in first place in the MAC East before losing in the conference title game to Toledo. The Zips didn’t do anything above average, but had an improbably run to the conference championship.
This game doesn’t seem fairly matched, but then again, Conference-USA isn’t as strong of a league as the MAC. Still, Florida Atlantic has some serious momentum right now while the Zips are coming off a second straight loss to Toledo in 2017 by double digits. The Owls will run all over the lackluster defense of the Zips en route to a victory in Boca Raton.
