A native of Montgomery, Alabama, Xavier Lane didn’t end up with the Crimson Tide or even Auburn out of high school.

Instead, the 6-foot-4, 200-pound receiver landed at Western Kentucky and he could be primed for a strong sophomore season.

The freshman caught four passes for 70 yards in a loss to Georgia State in the Autonation Cure Bowl, his third game this season with at least 50 yards.

Six times total Lane had at least three receptions, finishing with 27 catches and 336 yards on the year.

The Hilltoppers will feature new faces on offense next season, but Lane should slide right into the role of No. 1 receiver, which will be vacated by

Nacarius Fant. The senior caught 74 passes this year and had over 700 yards receiving.
