3. Shane Morris won’t hit 200 passing yards for Central Michigan

A lot of Central Michigan’s success in 2017 was thanks to graduate transfer quarterback Shane Morris. The former Michigan Wolverine threw for nearly 3,000 yards in the regular season as the Chippewas won eight games. But this time he will face a Wyoming squad that has been among the best in the country at making opposing passing attacks inefficient and unproductive.

Wyoming ranks fifth in the FBS in yards allowed to opposing passers. The Cowboys give up only 160 yards per game through the air. They also rank 17th nationally in opponent passing efficiency and have picked off 16 passes so far in 2017.

Five times this season, Morris was held at or under a 50 percent completion rate. He was also held under 200 passing yards on five of his 12 appearances. That includes three of the four Chippewas losses over the season. Against a strong secondary like Wyoming brings to the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, this could be yet another occasion where Morris comes up flat throwing the ball.

Morris has been a critical part of CMU getting to eight wins. He has also been at the heart of several of the Chippewas defeats this year. Once again, Morris will come up short. Wyoming will hold the redshirt senior under 200 passing yards and only allow him to complete half of his attempts.
