3. Cam Akers approaches 200 yards rushing
Both running backs will have strong showings as Cam Akers might just go off for 200 yards, but he will fall a few short. With Florida State up by a good amount early on, the Seminoles will look to melt the clock and stick to the ground game, and that’s where Akers comes in to play.
Although he will break a couple of long runs to give Florida State the early lead, he will be relied upon to help drown the clock and put the game away.
The freshman was one of the best recruits in the nation coming in with the 2017 class and he’s going to finish the year with a bang, even though the head coach he committed to left him high and dry. This kid has plenty of potential to be great, and he’s going to showcase that in the Independence Bowl with his second-best showing of the season.
Akers finished the Syracuse game with 199 yards and two touchdowns and is coming off a 100-yard performance against Louisiana-Monroe. He will record his second straight 100-yard game and put up 195 yards and two more scores to close out his freshman year.
