4. The defense will make enough plays to get the win

Now for how good this offense is the defense leaves a lot to be desired. I will say a team that is as high-powered as Memphis scores a lot and some of those drives are fast which means the defense is on the field a lot more even if they are doing a good job because of effectiveness of that unit.

With that being said this group is known for allowing teams to do what they want. They are 103rd in the nation in scoring at 33.4 points per game. Now the positive is it is a 14.4 point difference from what the offense scores, but you see what is going on with this unit.

While I spent the first few paragraphs bashing them I wanted to give Memphis fans a reason to be optimistic about this unit. While they give up a lot of points and yards they do a great job at getting pressure on the quarterback and getting takeaways. This unit has 23 sacks, 16 interceptions and 14 fumble recoveries.

The offense will score and the defense will make a big play or two to seal the game.
