2. Huskies will not be able to handle Tommy Stevens

Trace McSorley will get the majority of snaps at quarterback for the Nittany Lions. However backup quarterback Tommy Stevens is a pure athlete who can line up anywhere on the field and will factor into the Lions’ gameplan.

When Penn State released their depth chart for the Fiesta Bowl, many took notice of a new position listing. Stevens is listed as the only player at the “Lion” position. What could this new role mean? With the departure of offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead to Mississippi State, new play caller Ricky Rahne will be looking to get the dynamic Stevens as much playing time as possible.

While I do not think Rahne’s offense will look dramatically different than Moorhead’s, the x-factor will definitely be Stevens. In the season finale at Maryland, Stevens bulldozed the Terps for 113 yards and 3 touchdowns on the ground, adding another through the air.

Against Washington, look for Stevens to have significant time all over the field. Whether it is at quarterback, running back, receiver or even as a kick or punt returner, Stevens has the ability to play a huge role. As good as the Huskies have been on defense this season, they will not be prepared for what Stevens brings to the table. His size and speed will be too much to handle.
