2. Jacob Eason will see the field for Georgia in the Rose Bowl

Jake Fromm ranked fifth in the country in passing efficiency in 2017, guiding the Bulldogs to the SEC title as a true freshman. He took the field in the season opener against Appalachian State after Jacob Eason suffered a knee injury. Fromm subsequently led Georgia to one win after another, taking down Notre Dame in his first start and never looking back.

But while Fromm has been efficient, he hasn’t always been impressive under center for the Bulldogs. Twice he finished under 50 percent passing, and he also averaged just 167 passing yards per game. Fromm has passed the 200-yard passing mark on just three of 13 occasions in his young college career. None of these facts are going to cut it in a duel against Heisman winner Baker Mayfield.

If Fromm struggles early through the air against a Sooners secondary that gives up over 240 yards per game, it will make Georgia even more one-dimensional and put the heat even further on Michel and Chubb in the backfield. In that instance, Smart and offensive coordinator Jim Chaney could elect to go in a different direction at quarterback.

Basically, Jacob Eason will see the field for Georgia. That isn’t something that should be taken as a positive, as his appearance won’t come in garbage time with a big lead but rather in the heat of the contest as Fromm finally succumbs to a day where his freshman inexperience is revealed.
