2. Semifinal win proves Georgia isn’t a flash in the pan

The College Football Playoff, unlike the BCS System, gives four teams access to the national championship game. It also ups the ante, making all the participants win not one, but two games before being crowned the National Champion. The first game then acts as a proving ground, one final litmus test before the biggest game of the season.

Georgia aced their litmus test. Despite surrendering a season high in points to Oklahoma, Georgia proved that they can win however they need to win. They can win a low-scoring, defensive slug fest. They can win a shootout. Whatever the situation calls for the Bulldogs will be ready.

True freshman Jake Fromm led a game-tying touchdown drive in the final minutes of the fourth quarter. Sony Michel, after almost fumbling away the Bulldogs’ season, came through with the game winning touchdown in overtime. This team is battle tested.

Beating Alabama isn’t something that teams can luck their way into. It takes a perfect game, a ton of gumption and an incalculable amount of resolve. Georgia needed all of that and more to withstand Heisman Trophy winner Baker Mayfield and come out on top. They’re ready to be tested by the Tide.
