Clemson has taken part in three of the four Playoffs ever. That’s second to only the Crimson Tide, who are the only team to be in every single one. But, possibly the most heartbreaking outcome came in the National Championship loss to the Crimson Tide in Phoenix in 2016.

Watson got his first taste of the Title Game in this campaign, and it was an awesome matchup to watch. It’s hard to rank these Alabama and Clemson teams that met in the 2015 and 2016 seasons. Both games were so close.

Although the 2017 meeting between Alabama and Clemson was not as close, it’s always nice to see these two programs meet now. Saban and Swinney are two of the very best coaches in the nation and deserve the credit of that title.

If you have to pick and choose, the 2015 Clemson team gets the slight downgrade behind the 2016 Alabama team. This game did come down to the wire, but not in the same way that the National Championship did the following season.
