The Crimson Tide does have the chance to win the second College Football Playoff National Championship in 2018, but the result last year was definitely tough to swallow for any fan of Alabama football.

Star freshman quarterback Jalen Hurts was hard to contain for the Clemson defense, but fell just short to the legend that is Watson. It did take Clemson to the final second to defeat Alabama. The Crimson Tide were just one play away from coming away victorious.

This team deserves to be the highest-ranked non-champion on this list (outside of the 2017 Crimson Tide that have not played yet). And, there’s two more Alabama teams to be ranked here. It’s nice to see that Alabama could get in an offensive shootout two years in a row like they did against Clemson.

There’s no way that Alabama was going to be knocked off by any other team in the Playoff than Clemson last year. Alabama handily defeated a solid UW squad in the Semifinals on the way to nearly claiming back-to-back National Championships.
