The No. 2 seed seemed to be the one to have between the Crimson Tide and Clemson in 2015 and 2016. Whoever landed the No. 2 seed ended up winning the National Championship in what ended up being a rematch that happened in the Playoff three years in a row.

But, the 2017 edition of Clemson-Alabama was not as good as the first two times. Alabama took the first matchup, and Clemson won the second. But, Alabama quarterback, and FSU transfer, Jake Coker showed his toughness in the eventual victory.

Coker led the Crimson Tide to the 45-40 win over a tremendous Clemson team on both sides of the ball. Alabama also dominated Michigan State in the Semifinals matchup on New Years Eve 2015.

Heisman Trophy winner and former star Crimson Tide running back Derrick Henry took control of this game, and made it hard on the Clemson front seven. Ultra-athletic tight end O.J. Howard also had his coming out party in this National Championship win.
