It’s weird to think that there’s two No. 1 seeds listed in the bottom half of rankings like these. The 2014 Crimson Tide had a similar turnout to that of Clemson this year. Although, Alabama played much tighter with Ohio State in the Semifinals matchup than Clemson did this year.

Entering the first edition of the Playoff, Alabama seemed like the easy favorite to take home another National Championship. But, Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes had a different thought in the Sugar Bowl in 2015.

Blake Sims quarterbacked this Alabama squad, a very skilled one at that. But, the Crimson Tide did have a rather easy path before facing Ohio State. They defeated the Missouri Tigers (then back-to-back SEC East Champions) with ease in the SEC Title Game.

Ohio State was a rude awakening for the Crimson Tide in the Sugar Bowl. Saban surely wishes he could have this one back, as the Crimson Tide was actually more competitive with the Buckeyes than who Ohio State would take down in the National Championship.
