It was a step in the right direction for head coach Chris Ash and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights last year as they finished with their best season ever in Big Ten play since joining the conference. Ash and his staff continue to build the program and premise better days ahead as Rutgers is becoming a hot spot on the east coast for recruits, specifically incoming quarterback Artur Sitkowski, a four-star prospect that turned down Miami to head to Rutgers.

Like most rebuilding programs, it does not just happen overnight- but if last season was an indication of the direction of this team, it is evident that this squad cannot be taken lightly anymore by opposing teams. No longer is Rutgers the easy win of the Big Ten.

With that being said, the Scarlet Knights are still a ways off from competing with the big dogs of the league, and that was apparent last year when they faced off against the elite programs, losing to Penn State, Ohio State, and Michigan State by a combined score of 131-13.

Next year will not be any easier for Rutgers with a road game to Wisconsin added on to their already treacherous Big Ten East slate. It will take some time for Ash and his staff to get this program in the winning ways again, but one thing is for sure for this Rutgers team: Better days are ahead.

Final Score: Rutgers 7, Wisconsin 41 (9-0, 6-0 Big Ten)
