Wisconsin Football: Way-too-early game-by-game predictions for 2018
If anything, Wisconsin fans might be a little angry at BYU heading into next season because the Cougars were supposed to be that out-of-conference challenge that would help boost the Badgers’ strength of schedule. Instead, BYU struggled with injuries and offensive hiccups and mustered only four wins in 2016.
With another non-conference schedule without a Power Five team, the Badgers are hoping the Cougars bounce back in 2018 because a win over them could be all they have from a non-conference schedule point of view for making a case down the road at a College Football Playoff berth. Of course, this 2017-2018 home-and-home series between the two programs was made several years ago when BYU was a ten-win team.
The Badgers demolished the Cougars in Provo last season in a game where Alex Hornibrook was near perfect and the defense was firing on all cylinders, resulting in a 40-6 Badgers win.
It is hard to predict what kind of BYU team will be out there in 2018, but here it is assumed that the Cougars will bounce back and put a much better product out there on the field. It will not be a 34-point blowout again, but the Cougars might be a couple seasons away from returning to what they once were.
Final Score: BYU 17, Wisconsin 34 (3-0)
