Wisconsin Football: 5 breakout players to watch in 2018
1. Alex Hornibrook, QB (Jr.)
It is hard to look at the starting quarterback of a 13-win team and national power as under-the-radar. However, for the amount of scrutiny Hornibrook has received over his last few seasons, it is only a matter of time before he breaks through and has a massive season.
Over the span of his freshman and sophomore seasons, Hornibrook has displayed great efficiency at the quarterback but position, but in 2017 endured many turnovers- and costly ones at that.
The emergence of the young receivers on this Badgers team will help Honribrook tremendously in 2018, especially if they can all remain healthy. Normally the downfall for recent Wisconsin teams in the past is that they own a great rushing attack, but did not have the talent at wide out to make a play in must-throw downs. With the multiple options, Hornibrook will not have to force it anywhere like he did his freshman season with Troy Fumagalli.
The year 2018 could be the most balanced Wisconsin football team fans have seen in awhile and all of Badger nation saw what Hornibrook is capable of with his outstanding performance in the team’s Orange Bowl victory over Miami.

With all the focus being on Jonathan Taylor and the Badgers’ elite defense, Hornibrook will have all the focus off him and with the weapons he has, he could have the most quiet, yet successful season any Wisconsin quarterback has seen in the last 20 years.
