Iowa returns to Kinnick Stadium for a homecoming matchup against the Big Ten East’s Maryland Terrapins. This is also the first matchup between the two since 2015, where Iowa won 31-15.

The Terrapins looked to have a lot of promise last season as the started off with a huge win against a then-ranked Texas team at DKR-Memorial Stadium. However, Maryland would lose, not one, not two, but THREE quarterbacks and had to rely on sophomore quarterback Max Bortenschlager, who had never seen action in a Division I game prior. The season then went as expected as the Terrapins finished 4-8, dead last in the Big Ten East.

The Hawkeyes and the Terrapins have only met twice and have a split 1-1 record in the series, Maryland winning the first matchup in 2014 in College Park, and Iowa winning the last meeting in 2015. There hasn’t been many meetings between the two schools yet, but they have definitely had some spirited battles.

Homecoming in Iowa City is always a big occasion, and most will expect Kirk Ferentz’s squad to be ready to go. This game will not be a very close contest

Final Score: Maryland 3, Iowa 31 (6-1)
