For a team with a good amount of hype entering 2018, Notre Dame’s offense has a lot of questions to answer after multiple losses of starters from 2017, and a few costly suspensions. Another of those costly losses is tight end Durham Smythe.

Four-star tight end, and early signee George Tackacs is the 14th best in the nation at his position. At 6-foot-7, Tackacs also has the size to create a ton of matchup problems next year. His frame will need to fill out during the off-season, but that will come naturally.

While Smythe was valuable to the Notre Dame offense, Tackacs has even greater potential to make some noise and take his talent to the NFL ultimately. Tackacs has the type of talent as a tight end like that of the Penn State Nittany Lions Mike Gesicki.

With the opportunity to establish a good stake in the Notre Dame receiving corps right now, Tackacs does not face much of an uphill battle as an incoming freshman. Even Notre Dame’s backup tight end from 2017, Nic Weishar, is out of eligibility. Tackacs will compete with rising sophomore Cole Kmet for the starting job.
