Texas A&M Football: 5 commits who’ll have an instant impact in 2018
Another area where the Aggies lose a good portion of their depth at is tight end. Former transfer tight end Kalvin Cline was a senior and now moves on past the Aggies. Moreover, fellow senior tight end Tanner Schorp is gone too.
A great candidate to replace Cline in the starting tight end gig is JUCO transfer Jace Sternberger. The Kingfisher, OK, product is a three-star that originally committed to play for the Kansas Jayhawks, back in 2016. Yet, he redirected his college career to Northeastern Oklahoma A&M.
Now, Sternberger has the chance to win the starting job with a talented SEC team, and a dark horse contender to win the conference in 2018. Rising junior tight end Aaron Hansford is Sternberger’s biggest competition to get the bulk of the starts.
Texas A&M tends to use the tight end less than most SEC offenses. However, that could change with a new coach and offensive coordinator coming to College Station. Sternberger should be ready for anything thrown his way this offseason.
