The departure of starting Ole Miss running back Jordan Wilkins might be overlooked by most SEC fans during the off-season. Considering Ole Miss is not expected to be in the thick of the conference title race, it’s not the most significant thing leading up to the 2018 campaign.

However, for Rebels fans themselves, the loss of Wilkins means a huge gap in their offense. Wilkins was the reliable source of offense that helped steady out the transition after Patterson got injured against the LSU Tigers.

Quarterback Jordan Ta’amu had some help in the backfield from Wilkins. Yet, there’s one player the Rebels could land that would help minimize the impact of the loss of Wilkins. Four-star running back Maurice Washington has the size and durability to develop into an every down back.

Washington is the type of player that the Rebels can develop an offense with, that’ll compete again for SEC Titles in the long run. The Cedar Hill, TX, product is ready for the big time, and the SEC is a great destination for him. The Nebraska Cornhuskers are the favorite to nab Washington, but Ole Miss is one of the programs hot on his trail.
