Derrius Guice. 22. player. 16. . RB. LSU

In 2016 Derrius Guice was the backup to Leonard Fournette. Following that season Fournette would be drafted No. 4 overall and become the workhorse running back that carried the Jacksonville Jaguars to the AFC Championship Game. But it was Guice, not Fournette, that led the Tigers and the SEC in rushing yards the year they shared the Tiger backfield.

A year removed from leading the SEC in rushing, Guice finished fourth in the conference in 2017. He finished 140 yards behind leader Kerryon Johnson. Had Guice not missed time with injuries he might have led the conference that prides itself on wining in the trenches in consecutive seasons.

Buffalo has do-it-all tailback LeSean McCoy, but he’ll be entering his 10th professional season in 2018. He’s still got gas left in the tank, but he’s not getting any younger. The Bills would do well to cement their offensive backfield of the future with by taking Guice to complement Mayfield with their back-to-back first round selections.

Guice looks to be every bit as much as physical and quick as Fournette is. The Bills are looking at an RB1 at the back end of the first round. That’s an easy call to make.
