After talking about the need for the Aggies in this recruiting class at cornerback, the need at safety is not near as important at this moment. But, that does not take away from the significance that is the interest of a four-star safety like Leon O’Neal Jr.

This top-100 Cypress, Texas, product is just waiting for his chance to make a huge impact for a big time program during his freshman or sophomore year. Put O’Neal Jr. next to a developing rising junior safety in Larry Pryor, and the Aggies could have quite the safety duo in the secondary.

The Aggies do already have two safeties committed for the 2018 cycle, including four-star Yoakum High School phenom Jordan Moore. His presence in this class might draw away some of the interest that O’Neal Jr. has in choosing Texas A&M as his destination.

However, Texas A&M is the overwhelming favorite to get O’Neal Jr.’s decision in the end. The Oklahoma Sooners do have an opportunity to pull off an underdog commitment. The commitment of O’Neal Jr. to the Sooners is unlikely to happen.
