Louisville Football: 2018 class shaping up as one of Cardinals’ best ever
Building up the defense
After an eight win campaign in 2017, Louisville will undergo a bevy of losses on defense. Something has to give for them to build their defense for the years to come. The good news is that the bulk of the talent in the incoming freshmen class is on that side of the ball.
Especially in the secondary and defensive line, Louisville has a lot of inexperience along most of the starting positions. The secondary loses NFL talents at cornerback and safety in Jaire Alexander, Chucky Williams, and Trumaine Washington.
To replace that departing talent, Louisville brought in a player that is ready to go to make an immediate difference in Character Jr., and a safety of the future in four-star Trenell Troutman. The other current four-star signee for the Cardinals is Florida native inside linebacker Robert Hicks.
While no one expects Louisville to recover from all these losses on defense to start the 2018 season. Having a solid haul that can develop in the next few years, and help plug some of the holes this year makes a big difference.
