A position that the Irish could use an immediate boost at is wide receiver. The departures of significant pieces in the passing game like Equanimeous St. Brown and Kevin Stepherson leaves a gaping hole on the offensive side of the ball for the Irish.

To fill that void, the Irish can haul in a great incoming freshmen class of wide receivers. They do already have two four-star receivers committed, but adding another one just creates a better situation come the start of the regular season.

Four-star Louisiana product Lawrence Keys III would be the second highest-ranked receiver in this class. Fellow four-star receiver Kevin Austin is the 14th best in the nation at his position. Another highly touted pass-catcher is on his way to South Bend, in tight end prospect George Takacs.

The ability to make an instant impact with Notre Dame could be limited for Keys III. But, the long-term potential is there for him to build around another incoming freshmen in quarterback Phil Jurkovec. If he chooses the Irish over the LSU Tigers and Texas Longhorns, it’s a huge get for Notre Dame’s offense. This one should be a slam dunk for the Irish on NSD.
