2. Adding Jarrett Patterson to the mix

A four-star prospect that UCLA is favored to land on NSD is talented offensive tackle from Mission Viejo High School, Jarrett Patterson. No other offensive tackle in UCLA’s current class are four-star recruits, which gives Patterson a leg up as an incoming freshman.

UCLA could use the boost along the offensive line, especially with a new starting quarterback coming around in 2018. Star quarterback Josh Rosen is moving onto the NFL early. Whoever comes next has some big shoes to fill.

To help ease that transition process, the Bruins can put a solid offensive line out front to help both the passing and running games. Most of UCLA’s offensive lineman do return in 2018, but would be rising senior offensive tackle Kolton Miller declared for the NFL Draft early.

That could also open up a potential opportunity for some early playing time for Patterson. Other programs in the mix for Patterson include the Arizona State Sun Devils, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and Michigan Wolverines. UCLA is the top suitor in the race to land Patterson.
