Losers

1. Alabama

As if anyone needed more proof that Nick Saban has built a dynasty in Tuscaloosa, the Tide are getting knocked for not signing the No. 1 recruiting class. While their class isn’t up to “Alabama standards” it still finished inside the top 10. We’ll see if that dip translates into onfield performance, but that’s not likely.

2. LSU

Nothing is “Surtain” when you play in the same division as Saban. The Bayou Bengals took a hit on National Signing Day as they missed on several of their most highly coveted prospects. The biggest miss was the nation’s No.1 corner, Patrick Surtain Jr. who was considered a near-lock to sign with the Tigers. Ed Orgeron is already on shaky ground and a less-than-stellar National Signing Day won’t help turn down the heat.

3. New head coaches

For the most part teams with new head coaches did much in the way of notable signings on National Signing Day. UCLA, Arkansas, Arizona and Arizona State all had underwhelming classes. The yearly coaching carousel conflicted with the final recruiting push of 2017 and the results were noticeable.
