5. Quarterbacks are ready

The spot for starting quarterback in 2018 for the most part is looking like it’s set. JT Barrett led Ohio State with win after win in the 2017 season. As a senior, Barrett is moving on to bigger and better things, which means the quarterback position is open.

During the season, Barrett suffered a right knee injury. This was an opportunity for backup quarterback Dwayne Haskins to step in against Michigan and show what he can do. The team managed to win without Barrett, and although it was a short time with Haskins at the front line, Urban Meyer was able to see the potential.

Haskins is a second-year redshirt freshman, but he has composure when he’s on the field and can throw that deep ball. His strong arm makes him the favorable candidate for the 2018 season.

However, we can’t forget about Tate Martell. He is a freshman, so he still has a lot to learn. It will be tough to handle a strong team like the Buckeyes, and Martell will need to learn the responsibilities of a starting quarterback. But, college football is no stranger to a freshman starting quarterback. Martell is explosive on the field and is a versatile player, which makes him valuable to the team.

A new quarterback is a fresh start for offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson, and he will be able to try out something new with the Buckeyes.

The position can belong to anyone; both quarterbacks are good choices, and they both play in their own unique way, getting the job done.

Meyer has used a two-quarterback system before in 2006, and it was perfect with the players Chris Leak and Tim Tebow. But still, Haskins is the better quarterback for now, and it will be a smooth transition for the team.
