One of Penn State’s biggest weaknesses since James Franklin’s arrival has been their offensive line. They are certainly much better now than they were in 2014, but they still need to continue building. The Lions should aim to sign at least two or three offensive linemen with every class.

One of the big names high on Penn State’s list is Xavier Truss. He is the number one player in the state of Rhode Island. The state is quite small, but he ranks in the top 50 currently in the nation overall and he is the 6th best offensive tackle in the 2019 class.

Truss has garnered a lot of attention from teams all over the country. He was a standout last month at the US Army National Combine, a showcase of the country’s high school underclassmen. Truss earned first team honors according to 247 Sports.  Currently Truss holds 22 offers and he will probably garner even more as his recruitment progresses. The Nittany Lions are at the top of the mix, along with Big Ten rivals Ohio State and Michigan plus Oklahoma. Expect Truss to make an official visit to Happy Valley in the fall.
