Everybody by now knows running back Saquon Barkley will be playing on Sundays this fall. The Nittany Lions have some replacements in the pipeline with Miles Sanders and 2018 five-star commit Ricky Slade.  However there is always room for running backs and Devyn Ford is high on the Lions list of priorities.

Ford is from the talent rich area of the DMV. The large area is loaded with talent and the top schools in the country recruit it heavily. Ford is currently in the country’s top 100 players. He is the seventh running back overall and the second best player in the state of Virginia.

Ford has made some unofficial visits in the last year, including to Penn State, Virginia Tech and Clemson. Those three schools are on his recently named top six schools list. The other three included are Ohio State, Oklahoma and North Carolina. When he did name the top six, he was careful to not rank them in any order, but Penn State has a good of chance of signing Ford as the other five schools do. If I had to take a guess right now, I would say the Hokies and Lions are probably leading the pack. But with any as it goes with any 17 or 18 year old kid, their decisions can certainly change.

Penn State coaches will look to get an official visit from Ford this fall. Perhaps the game against Ohio State in late September, which could be a White Out, would be a good candidate.
