Baylor is thin at running back entering 2018. The departure of Terence Williams hurt this backfield significantly. The transfer of Williams leaves rising junior running back JaMychal Hasty as the most experienced rusher for the Bears at this moment.

This is where an incoming freshman like four-star all-purpose running back Craig Williams can help out immediately. Rhule showed last season that he’s not afraid to give some of the younger players on his roster some early playing time.

And, Williams definitely has the talent levels needed to succeed out of the backfield in the Big 12. Baylor is accustomed to using a “backfield by committee” approach, and that might not change again in 2018. The back that gets the bulk of the carries will have to earn that role.

Initially Williams was deciding between the Bears and the Texas Longhorns. Picking Baylor over a blue blood program on the rise, again, in the Big 12 in the Horns shows his commitment to long-term success in Waco.
