Quarterback: A-

Texas A&M is set at quarterback for the foreseeable future, but that didn’t stop Jimbo Fisher from landing a top dual-threat target. Florida State — go figure — was challenging Fisher and the Aggies for James Foster’s services on National Signing Day, along with LSU, but he ultimately signed with Texas A&M.

The Montgomery, Ala., native was the Aggies’ only quarterback signee in the 2018 class, and for good reason. He’s good enough to hold Texas A&M over until the next cycle and the Aggies are surprisingly well-equipped at the position after a disastrous 2017.

Nick Starkel is the likely starter for Texas A&M next season as a sophomore and Kellen Mond, who was rushed into the starter’s role in 2017 because of injuries, will sit back and get to learn behind Starkel. He could still have a role in the offense in some way.

Foster will likely be a redshirt candidate. He stands 6-foot-3 and weighs in at about 210 pounds with a world full of athleticism at his disposal. He’s the No. 271 overall recruit and 12th-best dual-threat.

Although Starkel and Mood both have plenty of eligibility left, a talented prospect like Foster could find his way onto the field in some form or another. Like Mond, he’s just too talented and athletic to keep off the field.
