Of any position on the depth chart for the Mountaineers in 2018, the wide receivers might be the strongest group. Although West Virginia loses a big part of the receiving corps in Ka’Raun White, they have a ton returning and some talent incoming also.

The primary target for Grier in 2018 is sure to be All-American wide receiver David Sills V. After leading the nation in receiving touchdowns in 2017, Sills V is primed for another huge year this time around. Gary Jennings and Marcus Simms are returning too.

Yet, of the group of incoming freshmen, three-star receiver Dillon Spalding is the highest-rated at his position. West Virginia does have three receivers in the 2018 recruiting class. None of those three receivers enrolled early so each enters the program on even ground.

Spalding was one of the early signees for the Mountaineers, during the Early Signing Period back in December 2017. He drew a number of offers from big programs outside of West Virginia such as the Michigan Wolverines, Tennessee Volunteers, Florida State Seminoles, Georgia Bulldogs and Oregon Ducks.
