The final roadtrip of the 2018 season brings Iowa State to DKR-Memorial Stadium in Austin to take on Tom Herman’s Longhorns. Texas won a defensive struggle a year ago, 17-7 in Jacob Park’s final game as starting quarterback.

The Longhorns finally returned to a bowl game in Tom Herman’s first season and beat former Big 12 foe Missouri in the Texas Bowl as Texas finished the season 7-6. The two-quarterback system of Sam Ehlinger and Shane Buechele appears to not be changing anytime soon as both are equally qualified to be the starting quarterback. This a young and explosive Texas team that is looking for more than just making it to a bowl game, they want to compete for the Big 12 Championship.

This game could have a little bad blood, Herman, and ex-Iowa State assistant coach, took a shot at his old school’s recruiting method’s since Matt Campbell took over at the end of 2015. The Cyclones will remember the game last season and will be determined to reverse their fortunes, which will be the case.

Final Score: Texas 21, Iowa State 31 (8-3)
