Texas A&M Football: 5 players to watch this Spring
It might seem like rising senior defensive tackle Daylon Mack has found himself on every “players to watch during Spring Practice/Spring Game” list in the last three years. However, he’s been a key piece of the defensive line for a while now.
Texas A&M needs Mack to breakout in 2018, after a somewhat disappointing stat line to round out the 2017 season. Mack posted just one sack, five tackles for loss, and 19 total tackles last year. The loss of senior defensive tackle Zaycoven Henderson makes Mack’s presence very important.
The Aggies’ defensive line has a ton of potential this season, but there’s a few players that do have to step up to the next level. Mack is just one of a handful of players that fit into that category. Fellow rising senior defensive lineman Kingsley Keke and Michael Clemens are significant too.
Standout defensive end Landis Durham is an underrated player that deserved more attention in 2017. Durham finished the season with a team leading 10.5 sacks. He could be an early round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft and having the support of lineman like Mack will help his cause.
