Texas A&M’s secondary brings back a unique mix of youth and experience this year. Senior safety Donovan Wilson leads the way for a possibly top-tier group of defensive backs in the SEC. Wilson surrounds himself with rising sophomores like Myles Jones, Larry Pryor, and Keldrick Carper, that can make a huge difference.

Jones does stick out as maybe the second best defensive back, and top cornerback for the Aggies’ defense in 2018. He placed himself with just five players for the Aggies’ defense to pick off a pass in 2017. That number could grow much larger this year, during his sophomore season.

With incredible size for a cornerback at 6-foot-4, Jones can compete with the very best of the SEC wide receivers. He’ll have to use that size to matchup with top two opposing receivers this year. We’ll see how he can handle that against Ausbon and Buckley in the Spring, and against the Clemson Tigers early in the Fall.

The area that Jones really stood out in 2017 was pass deflections. He tied star linebacker Tyrel Dodson and fellow cornerback Charles Oliver for the most pass deflections on the team, with eight a piece.
