Before he was a college football broadcaster and quarterback of the 1972 Miami Dolphins, Bob Griese was a legendary quarterback for Purdue. Griese threw for 4,402 yards and 28 touchdowns in his Boilermaker career. Griese finished his career with a 14-13 win over USC in Purdue’s first ever Rose Bowl appearance.

Griese arrived at Purdue by way of Evansville, Indiana and became starter by his sophomore season. Along with football, Griese was also a pitcher for the baseball team and finished 12-1 in a season during his career. He went on to be drafted by the AFL’s Miami Dolphins and quarterback their legendary 1972 team, which is the only team in the Super Bowl era to finish undefeated.
