2018 NFL Mock Draft: Complete first round through Pro Days
Almost a guarantee could be in place for the Miami Dolphins front office and coaching staff to go with the reigning Heisman Trophy winner with their first round pick, if he’s still available. Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Baker Mayfield is also a good fit in Miami.
The elusive legs on Mayfield, along with the quick decision making, puts Mayfield in excellent position to be selected in the top 15. He’s commonly regarded as the fourth best quarterback in this class, behind Allen, Darnold, and Rosen.
Moreover, the fact that former Texas A&M Aggies quarterback Ryan Tannehill might never make it through a full season injury free again, it’s time for the Dolphins to go in a different direction. Mayfield has a more honed in skill set than most other quarterbacks fresh out of college too.
The overall motivation, competitiveness, and fighting spirit to win games, separates Mayfield among the rest of the quarterbacks that’ll be on the board at this point. And, the Dolphins do really seem to buy into what Mayfield has to offer.
