2018 NFL Mock Draft: Complete first round through Pro Days
Adding a true winner and difference maker to the mix seems like the best move here for the Chicago Bears. Picks 8-10 fall right after the top-tier of talent is likely to be taken off the board. While someone is sure to fall out of that group of picks, that does not happen in this mock.
Under former Alabama defensive coordinator and current head coach Kirby Smart, the Georgia Bulldogs made a run that fell inches short of a National Championship last season. Star linebacker Roquan Smith was one of the most important pieces to that run for the Dawgs.
The defense could not have shut down as many opposing offenses as they did without the speed and leadership of Smith anchoring down both the defensive line in front of him and secondary behind him. This gives the Bears quite the dynamic duo at linebacker too.
Fellow UGA product Leonard Floyd could combine with Smith to form a truly daunting group of linebackers in the NFC North. Moreover, with Chicago’s division in flux, they can gain some ground on their rivals with some support for former top five pick in North Carolina Tar Heels quarterback product Mitchell Trubisky, on the other side of the ball.
