2018 NFL Mock Draft: Complete first round after pro days, trades
Needs: WR, QB, OL
The Arizona Cardinals have brought in stop-gap quarterbacks in Sam Bradford and Mike Glennon with the retirement of Carson Palmer. Bradford was 2-0 in 2017 completing 74 percent of his passes and averaged 8.9 yards per attempt. Those stats are well above his career averages but Bradford has been a seven-game winner four times with three different franchises.
The Cardinals have a really good running back in David Johnson and a first-ballot hall of fame receiver in Larry Fitzgerald. However, Fitzgerald is more of a possession receiver in his old age and the Cardinals need someone to take double teams off of him.
The 15th overall selection will be Calvin Ridley, the former Alabama wide receiver. Ridley has been all over draft boards from 13th overall to the mid second round. Ridley has size at 6-foot and speed after posting a 4.43 in the 40 yard dash at the NFL Combine. He also posted a 4.41 20 yard shuttle which shows quickness to go with his straight line speed.
Ridley averaged 15.3 yards per catch in Alabama’s offense but Jalen Hurts isn’t exactly a master of the deep ball. Ridley is a winner and playmaker that will work as the deep threat in the Cardinals new offense.
