Guard. Georgia. Isaiah Wynn. player. 50. Pick Analysis. 20. Scouting Report

Needs: OG, DE, LB

The Detroit Lions need to improve their defense, but after locking up Matthew Stafford with a record $135 million contract they also need to protect their investment. The Lions have an elite backfield with Ameer Abdullah, LaGarrette Blount and Theo Riddick to take pressure off of Stafford and shoring up their offensive line will benefit Stafford and new head coach Matt Patricia as he tries to rebuild the defense through scheme and coaching and later round picks.

Isaiah Wynn isn’t the sexiest first rounder for the Lions but he is the most sure-fire pick they could make at 20th overall. Wynn is a former Georgia Bulldog so he has been coached well under Mark Richt and Kirby Smart.

Wynn has size at 6’3-foot-and 313 pounds and NFL.com has graded him out as an instant starter at guard but he can play center as well. Having that versatility is huge in the NFL where most teams only carry eight offensive linemen.
