Pick Analysis. Bradley Chubb. 6. 46. Scouting Report. Defensie End. NC State. player

Needs: EDGE, OL, ILB

Bradley Chubb is the second most athletic player in the 2018 NFL Draft. Chubb is 6-foot-4 and 269 pounds of explosive athlete. He posted a 4.65 in the 40 yard dash, while his vertical leap was 36 inches and his broad jump measured 121 inches. Those numbers align with some of the highest rated players in combine history. Chubb is considered a sure-fire pro bowler and the Indianapolis Colts haven’t had a dominant pass rusher since Dwight Freeney.

The Colts need other positions, too. But in a pass-happy NFL the addition of Chubb to their defensive line will improve the play of their defensive backs in coverage. The Colts will eventually need to look at a quarterback once again. Andrew Luck and his shoulder issues have held him out of play. Luck and replacement Jacoby Brissett have one more season to prove they can play in the NFL. That requires more than talent as playing in the league also requires dependability which Luck hasn’t proven after sitting out the 2017 season.

The Colts have a new regime in place and a quarterback guru is now in charge in Frank Reich. Reich was just the Eagles offensive coordinator who used multiple low level draft picks at running back and won the Super Bowl having played two different quarterbacks including journeyman Nick Foles. Reich will need to find the same explosive play ability with the Colts he found with the Eagles.
