2018 NFL Draft: Ranking the Top 10 running backs
By Dana Becker
For four consecutive seasons, Justin Jackson was “the man” at Northwestern, recording back-to-back-to-back-to-back 1,000-yard campaigns. That included a 1,524-yard showing with 15 touchdowns – both career-highs – his junior season.
Jackson, though, opted to return for his final year with the Wildcats and still managed to run for 1,311 yards with 11 scores. He finished out his career with 5,440 yards and 41 touchdowns, adding another 858 yards in the passing game.
At 5-foot-11 and 200 pounds, Jackson plays above his size as evident by his 4.8 yards per carry average on 1,142 attempts. Add in his 122 receptions, and if Jackson can prove that his body isn’t completely damaged from the grind of the Big Ten, he has a chance to be a steady force in the NFL.
After a couple of clunkers during his senior season, the Illinois-native closed out the year strong, rushing for over 144 yards in his last three games, including a 32-carry, 157-yard, two-touchdown showing in the Music City Bowl win over Kentucky.
